Hi...

I'm Lori

A seasoned telemedicine Nurse Practitioner and clinical operations strategist supporting NP careers and building compliant care systems.

—built through hands-on clinical experience

MY STORY

After years working in traditional clinical settings, I hit a wall. Long hours, constant administrative burden, and limited control over how care was delivered left me burned out and questioning whether there was a better way to practice.

In 2016, I discovered telemedicine — and it changed everything.

Telemedicine offered flexibility, autonomy, and a renewed sense of purpose. But more importantly, it gave me a front-row seat to how virtual care actually operates — what supports clinicians, what creates friction, and where telehealth systems quietly fail both providers and patients.

Over the years, I’ve worked inside telemedicine and digital health environments as a:

  • Provider

  • Clinical Team Lead

  • Regional Practice Manager

  • Clinical Project Manager

  • Telemedicine Private Practice Owner

Each role gave me a deeper understanding of how telemedicine workflows function behind the scenes. I wasn’t simply using telehealth platforms — I was helping design clinical workflows, support nurse practitioners working remotely, identify breakdowns in virtual care delivery, and improve operational structures so telemedicine could scale safely and sustainably.

My background in data-driven analysis allowed me to evaluate what is truly scalable in telehealth clinical operations and translate those insights into practical improvements — not just recommendations.

THE PATTERN I COULDN’T IGNORE

Throughout my telemedicine career, I kept seeing the same challenges across virtual care environments:

Strong missions. Talented clinicians. Promising telehealth platforms.

But unclear workflows, fragmented intake processes, and inconsistent documentation expectations often created unnecessary stress for nurse practitioners and risk for organizations delivering digital health services.

Many telemedicine problems are not caused by lack of effort — they stem from systems that weren’t fully designed with real clinical workflows in mind.

When telehealth clinical operations are unclear, providers often compensate manually, creating hidden compliance risk, inefficiency, and burnout.

That realization shaped everything that followed.

WHY TELEMEDICINE CHICK WAS CREATED

Telemedicine Chick was created to help nurse practitioners successfully navigate telehealth careers and build compliant telemedicine private practices with greater clarity, confidence, and strategic direction.

I began by developing tools, trackers, templates, and educational resources based on real-world telemedicine experience — so clinicians wouldn’t have to navigate licensing, workflows, and business decisions alone.

Over time, this work expanded into telehealth mentorship, nurse practitioner business education, and private practice guidance designed to help clinicians build sustainable, scalable virtual care careers.

Today, Telemedicine Chick supports nurse practitioners who want to:

  • Enter telemedicine with confidence

  • Start a telemedicine private practice

  • Strengthen their clinical positioning in digital health

  • Build systems that reduce overwhelm and administrative burden

  • Understand multi-state licensing for telehealth

  • Develop compliant workflows for virtual care delivery

  • Make informed decisions about long-term telemedicine career strategy

Everything I create is grounded in real operational telehealth experience — not theory.

REAL-WORLD APPLICATION

I built my own telemedicine private practice from the ground up — selecting the EMR, designing telehealth workflows, developing clinical protocols, integrating pharmacies, and creating patient-centered systems designed for compliant virtual care delivery.

This hands-on experience allows me to teach nurse practitioners what starting a telemedicine practice actually requires, including:

  • Clinical workflow design

  • Telehealth documentation structure

  • Licensing considerations

  • Technology selection

  • Patient intake optimization

  • Operational sustainability

My work sits at the intersection of:

  • Clinical care delivery

  • Telehealth workflow design

  • Provider experience

  • Digital health operations

Because telemedicine works best when nurse practitioners understand not just how to practice virtually — but how telehealth systems actually function.

HOW MY BACKGROUND SUPPORTS THIS WORK

  • My experience inside telehealth platforms has provided insight into:

  • How telemedicine workflows impact provider confidence

  • Where compliance risk commonly emerges in virtual care

  • What makes telehealth sustainable long-term

  • How operational structure influences patient outcomes

  • Why clarity reduces burnout for nurse practitioners working remotely

These insights inform everything I create — from telemedicine education to mentorship to private practice strategy.

WHY I DO THIS

I believe:

  • Nurse practitioners deserve sustainable telemedicine careers

  • Clinicians deserve workflows that support safe, compliant care

  • Patients deserve accessible virtual care delivered by confident providers

  • Telehealth can improve access without sacrificing clinical quality

When clinicians understand how telemedicine actually works, they are better equipped to build flexible, scalable careers and independent practices.
